Fido’s New Year’s Resolutions

Happy New Year! Are you making resolutions for 2020? If so, your canine pal will stay faithfully by your side as you strive to meet your new goals, encouraging you with tail wags and happy dances. But if Fido could make his own resolutions, what do you think would be on his list? A local Glendale, AZ vet lists some strong ‘pawsibilities’ below.

Learn Something New

Make sure Fido knows basic doggy obedience commands, like Sit, Stay, and Come. If your pooch doesn’t quite have these down yet, work on these. Once your canine buddy has these basics mastered, move on to more advanced commands. Or, just show him some cute tricks. Many dogs actually like learning new things!

Get More Belly Rubs

Many of our furry buddies are very affectionate, and love getting ear scritches or belly rubs. Pay lots of attention to Fido in 2020!

Play A Lot

Man’s Best Friend is quite playful, and loves to run and jump. Playing isn’t just fun for Fido, though: it’s great for his physical, emotional, and mental health. Why not include doggy playtime in your own resolutions? Try to play with your pup every day.

Score Some Treats

If we know one thing for certain about our canine companions, it’s that they are very, very fond of food. Giving Fido treats is a great way to keep his tail wagging! Just don’t go overboard here: treats should only make up about 5 percent of your pup’s daily caloric intake.

Help Around The House

Fido is very fond of his human pals, and often tries to help them as much as he can. Your thoughtful pet may give you a helping paw by snapping up any food that falls to the floor. Or, he may make nose art on your windows, prompting you to clean them.

Spend Time With The Human

If Fido had his way, he’d spend all day, every day, with his human friends. Spend lots of quality time with your furry friend this year!

Be A Good Boy

Dogs are always cute, but that happy look they get when they are being praised is super charming! Remember to praise and reward Fido for being good.
